Art & Process is an office found by visual artist Ari Björn (b. 1973) and Heini Matveinen (b. 1980) in 2012. Context and site specifity are at the core of our work. Often the social issues and the urban environment, such as social justice and the right to public space, are the starting point for our work.
Kasvot on

Kasvot on is an intervention in the form of three-dimensional text in a public space. The text is made of recycled cloth material that we have collected from the Espoo area. The intervention examines the daily environment and how it in layers reflects the various impacts and influences of the globalized world.
The intervention is located at the heart of Espoo’s administrative center, in a bridge between the two very different shopping centers. By the location we wanted to raise the question of the common space identity. Who has the right to decide what and how it consists of? Are you able to recognize the residents influence on the environment and in everyday life, or does the passioned political agendas, economical preconditions and intrests dictate the appearance and ambiance of our environment?
The garments through this intervention are linked to the stories of many people. Through the process, reformed and intertwined fabrics are bursting with a strong identity rope of which strength is in its layers.
